4K a year The City of Tamarac has an exciting opportunity for a Recreation Programmer I.
This position will be assisting and planning for various recreation programs including Summer Camp.

Under general supervision, assists in the planning and coordination of various recreation programs, activities, special events and projects for the residents and employees of the City.
Assists in the daily functions of recreation, athletic, and special event programming.
Reports to the Parks and Recreation Site Supervisor or designee.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Works in a team with Recreation Programmer II's to plan, develop and implement recreational activities, programs, and projects.
Works with the Special Events Coordinator to plan, develop and implement community and employee special events and programs as assigned by Department Director or designee.
Secures entertainment, food vendors, sponsors, and volunteers for special events.
Instructs various recreation programs and classes, including aerobics/fitness classes, cooking, educational and athletic programs, trains volunteers, conducts athletic evaluations within programs and recruits instructors to conduct instructional classes.
Surveys community needs and interests utilizing transactional surveys and questionnaires.
Monitors parks and recreation facilities to ensure security, safety and cleanliness.
Monitors equipment to ensure proper working condition.
Identifies and reports any potential maintenance hazards with equipment or facilities.
Prepare and process work orders for repairs needed in parks, recreation, and fitness facilities.
Instructs participants through a planned orientation in the correct and safe use of recreational, fitness, sporting equipment.
Monitors participants' safety and wellbeing while using this equipment.
Ensures receipt of release forms from program and fitness participants; maintains records of forms and related documents.
Opens and closes facilities each day, including maintaining the alarm system.
Responsible for facility set up and break down.
Greets customers and responds to both phone and in person inquiries regarding department activities and events at all Parks and Recreation and City facilities.
Creates displays, posters, brochures, flyers, and special event programs for City events.
Updates website and social media platforms with facility program, and special event information.
Purchases and maintains inventory of recreation and special event equipment and supplies.
Obtains quotes and enters requisitions for Department purchases.
Requisitions requested equipment or supplies for daily operations.
Attends Homeowners Association Meetings, trainings, etc.
as assigned.
Conducts research and compiles information and reports as directed.
Monitors vendor contracts to ensure compliance; solicits corporate sponsors, grants, donations and partners for City programs and events.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits a variety of documents including purchase requisitions, invoices, work orders, quotes, sponsor/vendor insurance documents, registration forms and waivers.
Prepares and reviews facility usage reports, monthly activity reports, memos, compiles statistics for scorecards and from transactional surveys, etc.
Represents department when facilities are rented by outside groups.
Makes presence known at such meetings or events and offers assistance to customer(s) as needed.
Operates a variety of equipment such as computer, calculator, video monitor, security equipment, telephone.
May occasionally operate card scanner, fitness, strength, and cardio vascular equipment.
Operates a city vehicle as required.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as City personnel, community groups, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and the general public.
Initiates CPR and first aid to include the proper use of the Public Access Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as necessary.
Responsible for facility/equipment set up and break down for department programs and events.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs general clerical functions as required.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience Requires an Associates Degree, and at least two years responsible experience in an organized recreation or fitness center program to include program instruction, special events programming and/or art and crafts activities, office operation or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Relevant experience in excess of the required two years may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license.
Experience with special events, athletics, recreation, fitness/wellness preferred.
Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification to include AED within one year of the date-of-hire.
Must obtain and maintain Crowd Manager Certification within one year of the date-of-hire.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
