Advertising Sales Representative (South FLA Parenting)

South Florida Parenting Magazine is seeking a sales representative to join our team to sell advertising to geographical territory accounts.

To plan and make sales calls on assigned territory accounts.
To plan and make sales calls on potential new advertisers within assigned territory into the product portfolio of Forum Publishing Group including print products, events, electronic media and commercial printing.
To maintain contact with assigned accounts to assure maximum advertising. Service contact should include, but is not limited to, layout presentation, marketing plans and other pertinent information.
To maintain planned sales level within assigned accounts.
To provide all advertisers and their agencies with prompt, courteous and efficient sales service.
To observe departmental regulations regarding the collection of monies and credit policies as well as other policies governing the placement of advertising.
To refer complaints to proper department of the Company.
To monitor competitive activity, particularly in print media, for possible sales leads.
To maintain sales records and make required reports on all phases of activity.
To maintain a working relationship with regional and/or home offices of accounts.
Establish and maintain a good relationship with other Sun-Sentinel departments.
Should have an undergraduate degree in advertising or equivalent related experience.
Strong verbal communication skills and product knowledge are required in order to work with a variety of clients. Tact and persuasion are necessary to effectively close sales and handle client complaints and situations. Must have the self-confidence necessary to make "cold calls".
Must be able to organize time on daily basis, work under extreme deadlines, and focus on new business development.
Requires technical communication skills for use with clients, subordinates, and superiors. Public presentation and listening skills are also required.
Math skills are required to apply rates and measure contract lineage status.
Must have working knowledge of advertising layout and design and detailed knowledge of newspaper production capabilities.
Total knowledge of the rate card is required and the ability to service all related details of the clients advertising purchase.
Must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and accessible transportation to make client calls throughout the assigned geographic territory.
Minimal in town entertaining to maintain client relationships.
Typically requires 2-3 years experience in sales or marketing or prior newspaper advertising sales.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
